Cornucopia mountain in the Eagle Cap Wilderness Area of Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, about 12 miles from home.

Well, our first "real" snow of the season in Halfway has arrived. The Hells Canyon Chamber of Commerce, depending upon Idaho Power's lift availability, found itself putting up the town's Christmas Trees on Monday in the middle of a fluffy snowfall.

Waking To A Crisp Winter Morning

Today is very crisp outside. It feels like a perfect time to lounge next to a fire at the lodge. Alas, today is the day Hells Canyon Chamber of Commerce picked to decorate the trees we cut last week for display all up and down Main Street in Halfway. The surrounding mountains are stunning in their cloaks of glistening snow. Forest trees stand like sentinels along the ridge lines.
